The British Juggling Convention is returning in 2019 for it’s 32nd year…. but with a twist!

Nottingham – Harvey Haddon Sports Centre

Wednesday 10th to Sunday 14th April 2019

The team have decided that it will be a Bare Bones Edition!

Not sure what this means? Well here is a little explanation :

Bare Bones – meaning no frills, no organised shows, no off site events just a hall, a field and space for all your juggling fuelled imagination.

We are inviting you to make the event what you want it to be.

There will be a stage area set up with  tiered seating, a stage, a sound desk and lights. If you would like to perform your act or put together a show then you can.

There will be a Workshop Wall – if you want to run a workshop then fill in the online calendar and then when you arrive make sure you fill in the card and attach it to the correct day, time and room slot.

When you get here if, for example, you want to sort out an impromptu trick share, then you need to go to the Info Desk, get some paper and pens and put up a poster on the Workshop Wall telling people when and where to go and then go for it!

The BJC has always been heralded as an event ‘for jugglers by jugglers’. In recent years it has started to become very organised and slick but for one reason or another (EJC2019) there isn’t enough time, people or money to continue with this format this year!

We do still need people to help with stuff and we will be opening up our volunteering page soon!

Let’s see if we can make this work!!

Harvey Hadden Sports Village

We are returning once again to Harvey Hadden Sports Village, the venue that hosted the BJC in 2007, 2011 & 2017. The staff are familiar with our event and it’s not far from the main organisers home!

How to travel

By Air

The closest airport is East Midlands Airport. Once you have arrived you will need to decide how you will get to the venue. There is no train station at the airport but there are four close by. In the airport there are link buses that will take you to which ever train station you have tickets from.

By train

We would suggest arriving at Nottingham Train station and then either get a taxi or a city bus to the venue. Purchase tickets in advance for the best prices from either Trainline or East Midlands Trains.

Nottingham Train Station

By bus

Nottingham City Transport have an excellent service which you can view at their website. Tickets can be purchased in advance on their app or in exact cash from the driver.  For long distance coach travel try looking at Megabus.

Volunteers

Thank you for taking the time to find out more about volunteering at the BJC 2019. Volunteering is a crucial element of any BJC, the day to day running of the event depends on it. This year we wanted  to make it as easy as possible to sign up for a shift. Please read on for more information.

RULES FOR SIGNING UP

  • when signing up for multiple shifts please use the same details each time. If you come back and have forgotten which you used, please contact Natalie below
  • if you are unable to complete your shift for any reason please contact Natalie below so that she can release the shift to someone else.
  • check the time and duration of the shift carefully as it varies from shift to shift.
  • check your junk email as the shift confirmation email will probably end up there!
  • Once you have signed up please download WhatsApp and add Natalie’s phone number to your contacts (see volunteer shifts for details). Natalie will use WhatsApp at the event to contact volunteers if shifts become available.

Find all shifts here! You can also find them from the volunteers tab on the menu at the top of the page!

DISCLAIMER: Please note that by signing up for a shift you are allowing the organisers to have access to your name, email address and mobile number. This information will be used solely to contact you about the BJC and will be destroyed after the event.
